I lost it

It's already the mid of June and it holds as a sole reminder of the fact that the year is coming to yet another end - which has likely been by far the most relaxing and productive of all times, being an employed high-school graduate and all. I've been forced to master the art of losing one's self quite recently, which on a personal note, began when I looked into a mirror one evening and did not recognize the frail frame of the girl who was standing on the other side.

Layers of the things that had once occupied my time have slowly been peeled off from priority, messing up it's habitual persistency and hence being ceased into oblivion. Albeit, at a snail's pace - but nonetheless slowly vanishing. Take my avidity and ardour when it came down to reading books for example; It has been months since I've purchased a good book, let alone have felt the urge to read for that matter. Oh goodness, you have no idea how guilty I feel.

But, rest assured, I bounced right back up a few days ago while during an errand run with my Aunt. It's in times like these when I'm so grateful for massive bookshop which have branched out in almost every shopping centre and due to it's convenient location, I could pay the Popular bookshop outlet at Wangsa Walk a little visit the other day. And I swear, when I entered the bookshop, I could feel the warm welcome of the array of books that were laid out in front of me, not to mention the SALE signs that were comercialized everywhere. It was as if they were saying, "Welcome back!." So upon the warm welcome I mentally received, I decided that it was probably time I purchased a good book - a book I was capable of getting lost in, because it has been awhile and also because my generous aunt was around to sponsor (I hope she doesn't read this!)

I walked out of that bookshop with two books; two of which I have been lusting over for quite some time now.

I'm such a happy bookworm right now!

Place me on the bookshelf

Oh how I love the smell of new books, holding them in my grip and hugging them towards my chest, embracing the fact that they now belong to me. How I love ripping off the plastic wrappers from their exterior and flipping through each page, while I'm complemented by that woody and rustic smell.

After weeks of successful attempts at keeping me under house arrest - so to speak - away from the near-by sundry store, and the convenient Alpha Angle which only is a few minute drive away, Aunt Sharon was somehow fed-up of saying "No!" to my signature puppy-dog-eyes persuasion and pitiful begging. That of which only happens once in a blue moon. After weeks of absence at my second home which is MPH, I decided to spend a mere hour just searching for the books I listed on my "to read" list. When I couldn't spot a few of them with my naked eye, I seeked the help of the Customer Service. Seeing as she too had a hard time finding the books I wanted, my Aunt and I decided to join her in book-hunting. When quite a number of the books were found, I flipped through it and read the summary behind, and then decided I was going to purchase at least 5 this time around - all MPH members would be entitled to a very good discount, after all. But as luck would have it, I had to narrow down all 10 books to only 2.

And so these were the two lucky read's I walked away with:

As tempting as it is to pick them up and start reading them, The Host has yet to be done with. Only a few more chapters to go and I'm starting to see why Naressa so highly recommends it - well, she recommended it to me so many months ago and still it has yet to be done with.

Recently, I realized how outdated I've become. Be it with movies or latest celebrity gossip. There are just so many movies I can only wish to watch right now because my exams are right around the corner and celebrity gossip and juicy insights of the latest happenings in Hollywood I can only with to tune in to (E!). But when it comes to music, I'm always a step ahead - a step ahead of the 1# Malaysian Radio Station that is fly.fm or hitz.fm, even. That's how up-to-date I roll, baby!

I finally got a chance to watch The Princess and The Frog on Friday. And just so you know, I have never missed a Walt Disney film in all my almost-seventeen years of life. I may be a tad too late to watch them after a few days of their premiere but I somehow I manage to do so in my own timing. Upon watching this recent Disney created film, I'm now more assured of the fact that love does blossom in unpredictable ways. That's the way it was for Prince Naveen and Tiana. He was a rich- brat from a royal family, whose parents have disinherited him and she was hardworking girl from an average family, a girl with big dreams of opening up her own restaurant.

As they were from two very different worlds, they could never see eye-to-eye in everything. They were always on each others nerves. But as they both were stranded in some swamp they escaped to after they became frogs, they began to look pass all odds and learn how to bear with one another. Over time, it was their odds that brought them closer. So close that neither of them could imagine a life without each other after their journey together as green, slimy frogs ...

Here I go 'sighing' again, wishing for reality to have some lovely happy-endings.

Yesterday, SMKSI's 10th Annual Sports Day took place.

Seeing it as a perfect opportunity to spend some quality time with my old schoolmates and friends whom have changed schools after years of friendship, I invited a few close friends of mine. To name a few, Roy and Prissy. Knowing Roy all too well - every trick and excuse he has up his sleeve - he never wakes up as early as 8 a.m. to attend an event or even school, so I stepped in and interrupted his beauty sleep by continuously calling him on his cellphone. After countless of failed attempts, he finally answered and arrived.

As for Prissy, her Dad was against this whole plan of coming to my school for Sport's Day but at the last minute, he pulled through and allowed her to come. I suppose he saw what a good girl she has been behaving like for the past few days. Although it was a busy morning for her, having to attend her cousin's wedding in the morning and coming all the way to my school after. She came and I was pleased.

Of course we didn't stay to watch all the commotion happening at the school field, instead we made our way to the LRT station which was a few minute walk away. We hopped on the train and started off our gallivanting for the day at Sungei Wang. We spent the day shopping for affordable yet chic dresses. As Sungei Wang has such a wide galore or affordable finds, we stopped at each dress shop, trying on those of our likings. I managed to score a black dress, which is studded and beaded at the waist while my sister managed to score herself a pair of black skinny's. Prissy just bought a pair of shorts when initially she wanted to buy a dress. I guess she was the only one who didn't get to buy what she wanted. As for the two guys, they were bored shitless. So, being slightly considerate, I decided to treat them to lunch.

All in all, all of us went home with wide smiles on our faces. Pictures were captured and memories were once again made. No one complained and no one was so bossy, everyone just going with the flow and cooperating. I, especially, was feeling slightly better after their supportive words of advice.

My day was made!

A little more intense

<span class=

Judging from their facial expressions, having read the whole saga and seen the trailer over and over again, New Moon would be more intense, more drama, more action. Little pictures like these remind of the love I feel for this Twilight Saga.

Only hope

Well, today was an interesting, fun day.

It's nearly time for the teachers on duty to nominate the best decorated "Independence Day" class. And as usual, things would only be done at the last minute. It was havoc. Color pencils flying across the air, excessive papers scattered on the classroom floor, some playing the "Tom & Jerry" rat race - running around the class. The assistant monitor shouting from one end of the class to another. All together as a team, making an effort to beautify our horrendous class.

There was neither any semblance of peace nor discipline.

A few more hours before school ended, I walked pass the computer room, spotting En. Zaidi there, screening through videos on YouTube (videos I'm not willing to discuss). Knowing him as a 'sporting' teacher, I'd whisked my way into the room and talked him into allowing me to use the Internet for a few moments. I'd only checked my notifications and popped in to see the outlook of Coffee, Cream & Sugar's blog - beautiful.

_____

This evening, after gong through the recent Account's test papers with my Aunt, I'd confidently pestered her into driving me to Alpha Angle Wangsa Maju. I was determined to stop by MPH, to purchase a few books on my "Book list". So, in hope of owning a copy of The Time Traveler's Wife and L.A. Candy, I only had luck with one; L.A. Candy. No worries though, another book to be ticked off my list.

_____

When I got home, I'd urgently called Roy, in hope for the good news. And yes, it was. He got a replacement for my number. In times like this, is when I need him most - he's reliable, after all.

_____

A few hours ago, just before 8 p.m, Nanny cooked a belated birthday dinner for three members of the family - Mum, Dad and Un. Lee. Birthdays which have passed without time to celebrate due to their hectic daily routine, now, celebrated. The best part of it all was, for sure, the cake - Carrot cake.

God, you have no idea how full I am right now!

The Luxe

Ever since i walked into 'The Borders' bookshop in Singapore, i fell in love with this book.

Emmarose John's Review;

The Luxe Review The Luxe begins in Manhattan in 1899 with the beautiful Holland sisters Elizabeth and Diana. Elizabeth and Diana could be more thrilled about how they were these amazingly beautiful, mysterious, and spontaneous socialites of New York who were adored by the men, and envied by there peers. Everything naturally begins with a party. Social status is among top priority for an 18-year-old such as Elizabeth. After a long day of preparations, Elizabeth, Diana, and their mother arrived accordingly to the invitation to be swept away by the mind-blowing scene. Since the dress code required a costume to be worn by all, the grand ballroom at the new residence of the Richmond Hayes family was filled with picturesque masquerade dancers and wonderful music playing. In the middle of all this fuss, Elizabeth found herself caught in a dance with no one other then Henry Schoonmaker, the most eligible bachelor in the entirety of Manhattan. Elizabeth herself was considered one of the most beautiful women among the crowd of familiar faces, and when her best friend Penelope Hayes sees the two dancing she suddenly becomes madly jealous of Elizabeth and decides to fight her for Henry’s love. Elizabeth doesn’t think much of this because she in insanely in love with her carriage boy Will, who tends to the horses, and deals with anything of the equine nature. Their mother then confronts Elizabeth and Diana on a Sunday afternoon. She tells them that the family is in dire need of money. Elizabeth starts taking serious measures and is really thinking deeply about this. On the other hand, Diana couldn’t be more thrilled about the fact that she would have to be a hostess at any more fancy parties, she wouldn’t have to squeeze into her constraining dresses just to look presentable. She just got to do whatever she wanted, regardless of what her mother had advised her. A little further on, Henry Schoonmaker inquires Elizabeth about her future. After a discussion he asks for her hand in marriage. She carefully considers his offer while she thinks about the life that she and Will could have had together. She then accepts his offer after taking in to consideration what her mother had spoke to her earlier about. All of this happens within the first two hundred pages of the book. Personally, I liked how the author keeps you suspenseful right before she reviles a main part of the story to you. I liked the main idea of the story, a 18 year old in Manhattan trying to figure out what to do with her life. The descriptive writing that the author uses is very intriguing. Usually, for me at least, I don’t enjoy 18th century books just because the content is boring to me. In this book, I though it was a good read because the author took the historical content, and turned it into a modern version of a great love story. The style of writing was interesting to me because she wrote in a way that was interesting to younger readers, that got an adult concept to be interesting. I very much enjoyed reading The Luxe.

I'm awaiting for the right moment to get this book! :)
