heart of the rose
It's the beginning of another wonderful, blessed month, October. What makes this day so much more special is that today, the 1st of October, is my parent's 19th Anniversary and my grandma's birthday - a day shared full of joy, happiness, good food and birthday ice-cream.
A few moment's ago, I'd eaten my dinner at Popo's house (which means 'grandmother', in Cantonese) - a plate of still-tasty fried noodles that were left-over's. And for dessert, Aunt Mei brought out a the birthday ice-cream cake. It's Black Forest with a swirl of raspberry sauce as a topping. It had seven candles sticking out of it at every angle; Everyone then burst's into a Happy Birthday song, while the few of us hastily snap pictures and then, a wish was made.
Re-winding back to a few days ago:
It was already evening. I'd just got home from Nanny's house. Just when I was about to unpack and bathe, my brother told me that my Dad is planning to take mum to the Air Supply's Concert in Genting as an Anniversary gift - just the two of them on a romantic night out listening to serenading music, without us. Truly a romantic gift, no? At first, I didn't know what to say. I was in "awwss....". But now, after I've seen the look on mum's face when Dad told her - glowing and all- smiles - I, for one, have never seen her this way in awhile. Hats of to Daddy for initiating a romantic night out for their Anniversary.
